PRAISE & WORSHIP

It was once said, "We worship God authentically when we know him truly and treasure him duly!"

John 4:23–24 states, “The hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”

In Matthew 15:8–9 Jesus further expressed the importance of worshiping in spirit and in truth when He observed, in dissatisfaction, “This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; in vain do they worship me.”

From these scriptures we surmise that true worship is honor given to God in understanding and recognition of His merit. Worship is based on an understanding of God's nature, that duly overflows into an expression/ demonstration of adoration or devotion toward God.

Hebrews 13:15–16 exclaims, “Through him, then,” — through Christ — “let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name. Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.”

At Bayside Apostolic Center, we acknowledge the worshipful sacrifices encouraged in Hebrews 13:15-16 with the fruit of deeds, and with the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name: That is, in prizing & enjoying God, joyfully singing, and praying, repenting, and confessing, all with utmost satisfaction. Such acts of worship are pleasing to God.

In demonstrable acts of praise and worship (from the lips and in acts of love), we are saying that we know God's nature, that God's nature has worth, and that His worth is of value to us.

At Bayside Apostolic Center, we “..appeal to you, therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable, which is your spiritual service of worship.” (Romans 12:1)
